Automating the Customer Journey, With Jamie Gilleland

Filed in Podcasts, Previous Episodes on February 9, 2023

Jamie Gilleland had a thriving franchise company that was absolutely killing it.  A $3 million IPO on Wall Street, it had been named to the “Top 100 Franchises” by Franchise Market Magazine, and guess what?

She was diagnosed with a brain tumor the size of a golf ball.

They told her that she had less than 6 months to live.

They told her there was a less than 20% chance of surviving any surgery options.

As a result, Jamie had to step away from her business for 3 months to take care of her health – with 3 small children.

While Jamie was out, literally fighting for her life, the business failed.  You see, while Jamie had literally written the book on how the franchises would operate, she hadn’t even thought about the systems for the corporation to operate without her (and it was 2007 and the economy was beginning to fail).

THAT was where and when Jamie became passionate about creating systems for business owners that allow them to regain time, step into the role of “Leader” in their own company, and eventually, step away from their business while the systems they’ve created run their companies.

Her mission now is to show business owners and entrepreneurs how and where to automate and systemize the operational and “behind the scenes” stuff so they can focus on growing their business and sharing their genius.

Tune in and hear Jamie’s answers to questions such as:

  •  What started you on this business journey?
  • When did the light go on that so many things in a service business could be automated? After all, Amazon and the world online have made many of us aware you could automate products, but services? Especially in the classic sense of a small business. How’d you figure that out?
  • What are some metrics you’ve uncovered with automating? How much time are business owners saving? How is this affecting their bottom line – their closing ratios, their profitability, their potential for growth?
  • What industries or verticals do you see the biggest potential to add automation in, especially in the world of the “classic” small local or regional business, or the archetypical “second career” start-up?
  • If there is one thing you want our listeners to take from today, what is it?
  • And much, much more!

Entrepreneurs With a “Build It and They Will Come” Mentality Are Destined to Fail, With Will Russell

Filed in Podcasts, Previous Episodes on January 17, 2023

The quote “Build it and they will come” is a fallacy.

Entrepreneurs simply cannot expect a good idea or product to be enough to drive a high volume of early success. Would-be entrepreneurs must first test a new business idea out in the world to learn if and why people will pay money for it, and depending on the answers to those questions, launch it in the most effective and profitable way. One small slip, one shortcut, or one missing puzzle piece can bring their entrepreneurial journey to a premature end.

Based on his insider perspective, Will Russell describes his 5-step system using on-the-ground examples of what it takes to launch and maintain a successful business, addressing:

  • How entrepreneurs can take the risk out of risk-taking
  • How the 5-Step High-Profit Launch System delivers entrepreneurs a “go” or “no-go” recommendation
  • How to build an audience around your idea before you launch
  • What strategies will make potential customers want your product
  • What online tools and platforms best support your 5-step launch process
  • How to scale and optimize growth to power your profit

Tune in and hear Will’s answers to questions such as:

  • What’s the number one mistake you see new entrepreneurs make?
  • How can someone implement your strategies on a limited budget?
  • How should entrepreneurs be navigating their strategies during an economic downturn?
  • How does a recession/global uncertainty affect the launch industry?
  • If you had one piece of advice for new entrepreneurs, what would it be?
  • And much, much more!

How to Combat Affiliate Fraud, With Kelly Ground

Filed in Podcasts, Previous Episodes on January 10, 2023

Advertising fraud is a concern regardless of industry. Bots and fake traffic result in payouts but no sales.

Juniper Research found that $68 billion of digital advertising spend will be lost globally to fraud this year, up from $59 billion last year. This can be devastating for brands that rely heavily on the pay-per-click (PPC) model to drive traffic.

More recently, affiliate marketing has come under scrutiny for potential fraud. One study predicted the amount lost to affiliate fraud this year at $3.4 billion. And while that seems to paint a grim picture of affiliate marketing, it doesn’t tell the whole story.

Even though fraud is possible, a well-run affiliate program is far less likely to lose money due to fraud, thanks to checks and balances that detect anomalies.

Kelly Ground’s 15+ years of affiliate marketing experience gives her a unique perspective on how to provide strategic guidance and support to AP’s global affiliate program management teams.

Tune in and listen to Kelly’s answers to questions such as:

  • Can you discuss the evolution of affiliate marketing?
  • What is affiliate fraud?
  • What are the multiple tools and processes you can put in place to ensure that traffic is qualified?
  • Affiliate marketing is growing, and with growth comes more learnings and changes. Therefore, how do you ensure your strategies and techniques are monitored with checks and balances?
  • And much, much more!
